VWT awarded high marks in Conservation Evidence role

In its role as an Evidence Champion for Conservation Evidence, VWT received a fantastic score of 9.5/10 in a recent annual review, demonstrating that our work strongly aligns with the criteria in the Conservation Evidence Checklist of evidence use by organisations. We have also provided examples of good practice for organisations applying to be Evidence Champions, helping other organisations to follow our evidence-based approach to conserving rare and threatened species.

One such example is the monitoring of pine marten den boxes through the new National Pine Marten Monitoring Programme (Marten Map) set up though VWT's Martens on the Move project. This provides invaluable information to support a Britain-wide understanding of the species’ recovery and will help to prioritise conservation activities and resources where and how they will be most effective to support the recovery of pine martens across Britain.
