New report highlighting landscape connectivity and practical actions for lesser horseshoe bats

An insightful report on landscape connectivity for the Lesser Horseshoe bat in Ireland has been produced, drawing on new modelling and analyses by Patrick Wright and Colin Guilfoyle with input from Bat Conservation Ireland, Vincent Wildlife Trust, Atlantic Technological University and the Native Woodland Trust.

The report identifies key potential corridors and barriers affecting the movement of the lesser horseshoe bat across its range. It also highlights practical actions to enhance connectivity at a range of locations and scales across the west of Ireland. These actions span multiple sectors, including farmyard lighting, road crossings, hedgerow management, woodland cover and roost provision.
